National Success for Haygrove School's Trampolining Club

Haygrove Students took part in the National Schools Championships on Saturday 18th March at The Benham Arena Northampton. The top performance of the day came from the Year 7-9 Intermediate team Siyaana, Abbie, Freya and Maisey, who came in third place after displaying an exceptionally high level of performance.

The standard of competition was very high this year throughout the event, with other Haygrove students just narrowly missing out on medals by small margins. Special mention goes to theYear 11-14 Elite team Lily, Charlotte and Louisa and the Year 11-14 Novice team Jasmine, Ruby, Jenny and Millie and the Year 9-10 Novice team Maya, Maddie, Connie and Evie.

Haygrove’s Trampolining Coach Den Gibbs is grateful to everyone who made it possible for the students to participate. “A big thank you to our former students Ellie and Ella for officiating the day. I am very proud of the entire team. It has been excellent to watch their progression through the stages to reach a national level. These girls have practiced so hard and deserve this moment. Also a big thank you to Tim Bennett for driving us there and back!”

Jim Gray, Head of PE at Haygrove School says, “The growth and success of trampolining at Haygrove has been brilliant to watch. The students initially set up their own club on a Friday after school and participation grew rapidly. The students who were then selected for the School’s Trampolining Team had additional training with Den. We are all so proud of how hard the team has worked to achieve so much success at such a high level. We are very excited to see what next year will bring.”

Linda Campbell, a parent of one of our students, said, “I am so proud of the whole team. They did so well in all three competitions. We are so grateful to Den for coaching and supporting the team. His dedication is a huge factor in their success, so thank you Den!”

Mr Aaron Reid, Headteacher of Haygrove School is delighted by the team effort, “Our students really do benefit from taking part in these events and the positive recognition of effort and achievement. Having these opportunities is so important. I am very grateful for the efforts staff and parentswho support our children and encourage excellence.”
