D of E Bronze Expedition June 2024

Thirty-two students completed two days of expedition walking from Wheddon Cross to Dunster, camping at Sparkhayes campsite, Porlock last weekend. The students represented themselves, their families and the school very well.

On Saturday the groups walked a variety of self-selected routes via Dunkery Beacon, Webber's Post and Horner to Porlock. On Sunday routes included Selworthy Beacon, Wootton Courtenay and Wootton Common on the way to Dunster. All students met the demands of their assessment expedition well and problem-solved their way through a challenging weekend. It was a hot, sunny weekend which required good hydration, lots of sun cream and perseverance.

A big thank you to all the staff who supported the Year 9 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition and volunteered their time last weekend. The colleagues who worked to make the expedition such a success were Mrs Whitlock, Mr Darby, Mr Tracey, Mr Davidson, Miss Knott, Mrs West, Mr Tucker and Mrs Frost.

Well done everyone!
